Keith Taylor Jr. – Carolina Panthers CB

Although much of the talk and focus will rightfully be on No. 8 overall selection Jaycee Horn, there is another incoming college recruit who could find himself on the rotation with a strong showing at training camp.

The Carolina Panthers selected Keith Taylor Jr. in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His production in college was of a high level at Washington, but there is some refinement needed to ensure he can make a real go of things at the next level.

One particular area where Taylor thrives is in press coverage on the outside. This is an element where the Panthers struggled to find any consistency in 2020 and the rookie’s athleticism and length should assist in this regard.

No matter where they are drafted, first-year cornerbacks go through some complications against more imposing wide receivers in the pros. Taylor is set for a baptism of fire if he generates some significant reps during the campaign and how hopes will tell us plenty about what to expect from the player long-term.

Having the likes of Horn, Donte Jackson, and A.J. Bouye alongside Taylor will help enormously. Catching the eye is essential for the player at training camp and, more importantly, during whatever time he sees on the field in preseason games.
