4 Carolina Panthers coaches who could get promotions in 2022

Sean Ryan – Carolina Panthers QB coach

Sean Ryan has worked with a couple of great quarterbacks in his past. Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson and Los Angeles Rams signal-caller Matthew Stafford had plenty of success in their careers and the coach has also worked alongside head coach Matt Rhule in the past.

Ryan coached up Watson ever since he was drafted in 2017. After his injury-riddled rookie season in 2017, the former Clemson star secured 4,165 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with a 68.3 completion percentage in 2018.

Simply put, Ryan coached him up to the amazing young quarterback he is today.

The coach possibly has his greatest challenge ahead of him with the Carolina Panthers in Sam Darnold.

We all know Darnold was not in the best situation with the New York Jets. Ryan is ready to change things around with him.

He’s already begun working with Darnold on his footwork and movement around the pocket, according to David Newton at ESPN.

"“The process would be like any other quarterback I work with — you start from the feet up… When your feet are right, when your lower half is right, there is a good chanve the balls are going in the right spot… To me, less moving parts equals more accuracy. So, I think it is a subtle movement up in the pocket, or to the side in the pocket. And we have done a lot of that this offseason.”"

Ryan knows he has some work ahead of him, but his past success can happen the same way with Darnold.

He did not have many weapons in New York, but in Carolina, he has an overload of talent at his disposal. If Ryan can turn Darnold into an above-average starting quarterback the Panthers and other NFL teams will pay attention to his success.

Many do not believe in Darnold, but Ryan plans to change this persona.
