Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns could be set for big things in 2021, but can he emerge as one of the league’s best edge rushers?

It’s clear that Brian Burns is destined for greatness. The Carolina Panthers witnessed some incredible growth from the defensive end during his sophomore campaign, which could be a sign of things to come with further development this offseason.

Burns has everything one looks for in a stud defensive end. He is explosive beyond measure and the Panthers clearly struck gold when they selected him out of Florida State in the first round back in 2019.

Just how much better Burns can become is unclear. This is a player with the world at his feet and if he can make similar strides forward during a big third year for the pass-rusher, the sky truly is the limit.

Carolina’s defense should be much improved following some notable additions in free agency and from the college ranks. Despite this, everything good will go through Burns and he is a real breakout candidate judging by what we saw last time around.

CBS Sports recently placed Burns among the NFL’s top-10 edge rushers, such was the impression he made last season. Any slight increase in production could see the player become the league’s most feared defender attempting to get into opposing backfields.

On this subject, we picked out three ways Burns can progress and be the NFL’s best in the coming months.
