DaQuan Jones – Carolina Panthers DT

Of all the signings made by the Carolina Panthers in free agency, DaQuan Jones might be the most important.

So why doesn’t the player get talked about all that much?

Jones is an unassuming character who just goes about his business with no real need for the limelight. He is hugely respected in league circles and is going to offer a substantial amount to the Panthers alongside stud interior lineman Derrick Brown in 2021.

Widespread media acclaim might not be what Jones wants. But if he reaches expectations next season, it is sure to come his way.

His production for the Tennessee Titans over the last couple of seasons played a leading role in the team reaching the postseason. It was something of a surprise that they didn’t bring him back in free agency, but their loss is definitely Carolina’s gain.

The Panthers have a lot of talent on their defensive front heading into the new campaign. This unit should also be assisted by some improved coverage following the arrivals of Jaycee Horn and A.J. Bouye, so there’s a lot to like about Phil Snow’s chances of making his defense a top-10 outfit.

Jones will have a big part to play. And sleep on the imposing defensive tackle at your peril.
