5 Carolina Panthers players who aren’t getting enough respect

Marquis Haynes – Carolina Panthers DE/OLB
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers made some eye-catching additions to their defensive front this offseason. This only enhances expectations about a big-time upturn in numbers from a group that struggled to generate pressure at certain stages in 2020.
These new signings will help.
But another established member of the rotation could also be set for a big leap forward next time around.
Marquis Haynes has a lot at stake in 2021. The edge rusher is coming off a career year where he secured four sacks from just 37 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, which goes relatively under the radar compared to more high-profile players who perhaps aren’t performing as well.
The former Ole Miss star certainly looks the part judging by his physique at voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Haynes must build on this positive momentum with a strong showing during the preseason, with any regression potentially affecting how many reps come his way when competitive action begins.
Haynes is heading into the final year of his rookie deal next season, which only increases the sense of urgency in any player looking for a new contract.
The best may still be to come where Haynes is concerned. Another step forward in production will undoubtedly come with the financial security he’s looking for.
