Eric Reid – Former Carolina Panthers S

The career of Eric Reid has been anything but dull. He took a stand alongside Colin Kaepernick and paid the price by being almost black-balled by NFL teams before the Carolina Panthers brought him on board in 2018.

There was nothing wrong with Reid’s production during his time in Carolina. His play did have some inconsistencies, but his overall level of performance indicated that the Panthers were right to acquire the player despite the obvious media distractions that came along with the signing.

With a new regime coming into the organization, Reid was deemed surplus to requirements and wasn’t brought back for the 2020 season. Perhaps it also comes a little shock that the former LSU star hasn’t been able to find work since.

Reid is a man of principle and if his career has come to an end, it’s through no fault of his own.

At least Reid can look back knowing he was on the right side of history.

It would be jaw-dropping if the 2013 first-round pick was provided another avenue into the league. Especially as he’s now been without a taste of competitive action for a full year.

Things would obviously have been different had Reid toed the line, so to speak. But when it’s all said done, his predicament is the NFL’s problem, not his.
