A.J. Bouye – Carolina Panthers CB

This is probably a given considering A.J. Bouye’s age and his time in the league. But that doesn’t mean he cannot be of significant use to the Carolina Panthers during the 2021 season.

It was vital for the Panthers to get an upgrade at the cornerback position this offseason. Carolina addressed this impressively with the additions of Bouye, first-round pick Jaycee Horn, and fifth-rounder Keith Taylor Jr., who could all make their presence felt as the campaign progresses.

Bouye would be the first to admit he had a down year with the Denver Broncos in 2020.

This also ended early due to suspension that will keep the player out until Week 3, which means others on the Panthers need to step up until he’s available.

However, it’s worth remembering that Bouye was considered one of the best in the business and is a former Pro Bowler with the Jacksonville Jaguars not so long ago. His experience is sure to help a young group and there is even the slight possibility of moving the veteran back to safety if things don’t pan out as expected with Juston Burris.

Expecting Bouye to make a return to his 2017 form is unrealistic. Corners tend to fall off the proverbial cliff quicker than most and the Panthers are hoping he can at least play his part alongside an athletic young duo in Horn and Donte Jackson.
