6 free agents in problem areas the Panthers should sign pre-camp

J.R. Sweezy – OG
- 2020 team – Arizona Cardinals
Although the Carolina Panthers brought in a number of options to strengthen their offensive line interior, it’s still up in the air as to just who is going to start alongside center Matt Paradis in 2021.
It promises to be a fascinating battle for depth chart position at training camp, with reps during preseason games also set to swing the pendulum one way or another for those looking for prominent positions on the rotation.
This is going to be one of the more interesting things to keep an eye on in Spartanburg. However, there is a chance the Panthers could acquire another veteran presence before then to give them another option that might be of some use.
J.R. Sweezy could be a good fit if there is a mutual interest. The player was solid if not spectacular for the Arizona Cardinals last season and is no stranger to the area having played his college football at North Carolina State.
Sweezy was a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks when Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer was director of college scouting and renowned for picking out late draft gems who went on the have successful NFL careers.
Carolina might opt to see what they have first before going in this direction. But a player of Sweezy’s experience might not be on the market for much longer and especially when injury inevitably strikes somewhere at camp.
