It’s fair to say Ventell Bryant hasn’t done himself any favors heading into training camp. The wide receiver was suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. Meaning the Carolina Panthers now have a big decision to make regarding the former Temple standout.
In truth, the chances of Bryant ever making the 53-man roster were slim, to begin with. The Panthers have an abundance of weapons in the passing game to compensate for Curtis Samuel’s departure to the Washington Football Team in free agency, so they might decide to cut the player loose in the coming days due to his indiscretion.
If this eventuality comes to fruition, Bryant only has himself to blame.

Getting this sort of opportunity had a lot to do with Bryant’s previous relationship with Matt Rhule. The head coach has brought plenty of players to Carolina that he’s familiar with, which has come with mixed success during his time at the helm so far.
Bryant now faces an anxious wait to see if the Panthers take any additional action. But it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world.
There would be a free roster spot if Bryant was sent packing.
