5 free-agent wide receivers who could replace Ventell Bryant at camp

Trevon Grimes
Providing there aren’t any lasting effects from the knee injury Trevon Grimes is currently recovering from, he could be an intriguing option for the Carolina Panthers to consider. Whether the problem will keep him out for training camp is not yet determined, but it’s worth further investigation if they end up releasing Ventell Bryant.
Grimes has a solid college career and possesses some eye-catching athletic attributes. He is a big-bodied wideout at 6-foot-4 who has no trouble catching the football over opposing cornerbacks, which we saw regularly with the Florida Gators before arriving at the next level.
This wasn’t enough for Grimes to hear his name called during the 2021 NFL Draft, which was a surprise to many. However, he was quickly snapped up by the Philadelphia Eagles in undrafted free agency before eventually being waived due to his knee problem.
Grimes reportedly had a knee procedure a few weeks ago and also tore his ACL in college. These are obvious red flags for Carolina to investigate if they wish to pursue the player, who’ll need to put in some quality work if he gets to camp in pursuit of making the roster.
The cards are stacked against Grimes for the time being. The Panthers have so much talent in their wide receiver room already, so developing the player at his own pace with a view to potentially making the practice squad is an option providing the rookie proves his fitness.
