The Carolina Panthers are banking on some huge strides from their defense in 2021. They used the majority of spare funds available on strengthening all areas in free agency and this gives Phil Snow far more options from a scheme standpoint heading into his second season calling plays at the next level.

What comes beyond this season is another matter. Carolina acquired plenty of short-term rentals who might not be around this time next year, so they won’t want a loss of momentum if this group becomes a top-10 unit next time around.

Being aggressive in the trade market is a realistic option and Bradley Chubb is someone that needs to be considered.

The outside linebacker burst onto the scene as a rookie with 12.5 sacks for the Denver Broncos. Although things didn’t go according to plan in 2019 thanks to injury, Chubb showed signs of life with 7.5 quarterback takedowns last season.

With Von Miller now firmly in the twilight of his career, the Broncos need to keep Chubb around at all costs. Even though they won’t be held to ransom by the former first-round pick.

Generating pressure from the second level is something the Panthers struggled mightily with last season. Chubb is no stranger to the region having played his college football at North Carolina State, so this move would certainly be a popular one by the front office.
