Getting a long-term partner at safety for Jeremy Chinn is one of the top priorities for the Carolina Panthers in 2022. This is providing Juston Burris doesn’t raise his game accordingly on the final year of his deal.

Much will depend on where the Panthers end up picking in the NFL Draft, with someone like Kyle Hamilton set to generate a substantial amount of interest with another exceptional campaign leading the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

If someone like Hamilton is out of reach, expect the Panthers to possibly explore the trade market for another safety capable of producing the goods.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is no stranger to being traded after his big move to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Alabama stud has long been regarded as one of the best safeties in the business, but the player will be after a lucrative extension sooner rather than later and it remains to be seen whether his current team has enough in the way of spare resources to get a deal done.

Say things don’t go well for the Steelers next season and they are forced into a rebuild with Ben Roethlisberger likely playing his final year under center.  Getting valuable draft capital for Fitzpatrick could assist this process a significant amount.

Providing the price is right, he would be a tremendous acquisition for the Panthers. Slotting the player alongside Chinn would make them arguably the league’s best safety tandem.
