5 Carolina Panthers players who’ll turn heads at 2021 training camp
By Dean Jones
Jaycee Horn – CB
This is arguably the hottest ticket in town when it comes to training camp.
Jaycee Horn has the scope to bring a significant amount to the Carolina Panthers roster right from the word go, with the cornerback having plenty of responsibility on his shoulders after the team selected him No. 8 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Horn obviously knew beforehand he was high on Carolina’s list of potential targets. Once stud left tackle Penei Sewell was taken by the Detroit Lions, he knew that his name could very well be called next.
Living up to lofty expectations is difficult for rookie corners, who tend to go through some difficult adjustments early in their careers.
Horn is hoping to be the exception to the rule and his willingness to cover the best college football has to offer during his time in South Carolina is something that should stand him in good stead.
The son of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Joe Horn has left his mark during the early offseason period. His size, physicality, and athleticism have been sorely lacking in Carolina’s secondary over the years.
Providing his transition to the gridiron is smooth, the Panthers might just have a formidable defense after all.
Showing out when the pads go on is the next step for Horn. But there is nothing to suggest he is not more than capable of this.
