What better place for Will Grier to end up than with those who were part of the selection process with the Carolina Panthers when he entered the league.

Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney are both now part of the Washington Football Team, who did make some encouraging strides under the head coach in 2020 on their way to a playoff spot despite their lack of productivity under center.

Alex Smith wasn’t brought back in free agency and subsequently retired after an unbelievable comeback story. Washington is moving forward with much-traveled veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke, with the prospect of Kyle Allen returning from injury something else to consider.

Rivera and Hurney saw something in Grier, even though they threw him to the wolves as a rookie in front of a porous offensive line.

If the signal-caller produces some highlights of note during the preseason, it might see Washington make a move for a player that could still have his best football ahead of him.

As stated previously, the Panthers roster needs another quarterback if they want to get something back in return for Grier before competitive action begins. But of all the potential destinations, Washington might be the most likely and especially if Fitzpatrick doesn’t hit the ground running.
