4 teams that could trade for Panthers QB Will Grier this offseason

New York Jets
The Carolina Panthers and New York Jets have done business before this offseason. Sam Darnold was the man chosen by the organization to replace Teddy Bridgewater, which cost them three draft picks to find out if the former No. 3 overall selection out of USC can finally start living up to the hype.
This came after the Jets decided to push forward with Zach Wilson. The BYU product is a fascinating prospect that has plenty of responsibility on his shoulders and not much on the depth chart behind him if things go wrong.
James Morgan and Mike White are listed as the only other signal-callers on the depth chart behind Wilson, so acquiring someone like Will Grier might be an option for the team to consider.
The Panthers roster activated two quarterbacks on gameday in 2020. It would be a surprise if they went away from this in the second year of Matt Rhule’s reign.
His preference for P.J. Walker more often than not was also telling.
Grier could provide a stable backup presence to Wilson. He might not be as experienced as some possible options, but there might be more in the way of upside regarding a player that’s found it difficult to truly establish himself in Carolina.
The Panthers are unlikely to get anything more than a mid-round pick for Grier. So it might be worth spurning any offers from elsewhere and keep him on the books.
