Juston Burris – Carolina Panthers S

There were some mitigating factors behind Juston Burris and his lack of productivity down the stretch in 2020. The safety did show some promise earlier in the campaign before a rib injury halted his momentum and although he did return to the lineup, the player was never quite the same.

Having an inconsistent partner on the backend in Tre Boston didn’t help. Burris won’t be able to use that excuse this time around.

The Carolina Panthers are planning to move Jeremy Chinn back to safety after an exceptional first year in the league as an outside linebacker. Having such an energetic playmaker in the secondary is only going to help Burris, with the improvements made at cornerback something else that shouldn’t be overlooked.

If Burris wants to earn an extended stay in Carolina, he’ll have to raise his game considerably. He is getting the benefit of the doubt from the coaching staff judging by the moves made this offseason and the former Cleveland Brown must repay this confidence with high-level performances when it matters most.

Should Burris continue to struggle, it will not only put his starting job at risk this season. But he can also kiss his chances of a long-term future in Carolina goodbye.
