5 Carolina Panthers players with feast or famine prospects in 2021
By Dean Jones
David Moore – Carolina Panthers WR
General manager Scott Fitterer didn’t waste much time bringing David Moore to the Carolina Panthers after Curtis Samuel left in free agency. The new appointment knows full well what the wide receiver is capable of from their time together with the Seattle Seahawks and there is a real opportunity awaiting the player in a different environment.
Moore will get the first shot at winning the third spot on the depth chart. Even though he’ll have two promising rookies breathing down his neck in Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith.
This meant the margins will be small for Moore early in the campaign. How he performs when targets come his way will tell us plenty about what we can expect from the wideout moving forward.
In truth, this signing could go either way.
Moore has all the skills needed to light it up if given enough of a chance. But a poor transition to the Panthers will see others inevitably move above him on the depth chart.
Must like most names on this list, Moore is the only one who can really decide his fate. The player was a dependable presence behind D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in Seattle and the Panthers are hoping he can produce from a similar role after deciding to take his chances elsewhere this spring.
