Taylor Moton – Carolina Panthers OT

This could happen very soon. Taylor Moton now has a benchmark to aim for after Ryan Ramczyk penned a record deal with the New Orleans Saints, so it will be an additional element to negotiations that cannot be ignored.

The Carolina Panthers did the smart thing by placing the franchise tag on Moton, whose level of consistency over the last three years has been extraordinary. That was step No. 1 where the organization is concerned – they must now tie the former second-round pick down to a lucrative long-term deal that is going to make him a very rich man.

Moton is a huge part of Carolina’s plans moving forward and the only reliable presence on their suspect offensive line.

Keeping him around for the foreseeable future is a necessity. No matter what it ends up costing.

Nobody will know his worth more than Moton. The Western Michigan product is undoubtedly one of the best edge protectors in the business and deserves to be paid accordingly.

Whether that is going to be at the same cash Ramczyk just got from the Saints remains to be seen. But if his new deal is a record-breaking one for a right tackle, then nobody will say Moton isn’t deserving of whatever money is coming his way.

Hopefully, for the player and the Panthers, this will be agreed upon at the earliest possible opportunity. Preferably, before the franchise deadline where things could get more complicated.
