Over the years the Carolina Panthers have had a lot of exciting deep threats, but which are at the top of the list

The Carolina Panthers have had plenty of exciting players throughout their 26-year history. These individuals produced plenty of memorable moments and had those in the stands out of their seats thanks to an incredible ability to break off big plays down the field.

We took a look and ranked the four best deep threats to ever put on a Panthers uniform.

Deep Threat No.1

Steve Smith Sr. – Former Carolina Panthers WR

This was the easiest choice on this list by a long shot. Steve Smith Sr. holds just about every Carolina receiving record there is, and with good reason.

From 2001-2013, Smith tallied 12,197 receiving yards and 67 touchdowns. No one else is even close to those numbers in Panthers history.

For years, Smith showed the ability to consistently get behind defenders and score on the long ball. He averaged 14.6 yards per reception during his phenomenal career.

Whether it was Jake Delhomme or Cam Newton, Smith always elevated his quarterback and made memorable moments with whoever was throwing the ball. I’m sure his past signal-callers would agree with him being No. 1 on this list.

Smith is also No. 8 on the all-time receiving yards list, so his greatness goes beyond just a Panthers uniform.
