Ranking the 4 best deep threats in Carolina Panthers’ history
By Will Burns
Muhsin Muhammad – Former Carolina Panthers WR
Often overshadowed by Steve Smith Sr., Muhsin Muhammad always found a way to get down the field during his 11-year career with the Carolina Panthers. Something that fans that were fortunate enough to see him play won’t forget in a hurry.
Muhammad is mostly remembered for his 2004 campaign in which he caught 16 touchdown passes. In total as a Panther, he accumulated an incredible 9,255 receiving yards and 50 touchdowns.
He also averaged 13.3 yards per catch. Clearly getting down the field and catching deep passes was Muhammad’s forte and something that was truly a joy to watch.
Muhammad ranks 33rd all-time in career receiving yards, and his statistics would be good enough to lead a lot of NFL franchises’ lists if it weren’t for the greatness of Smith.
That should not detract from what a lasting impact Muhammad made in Carolina. He remains one of the team’s greatest-ever players at the position with a legacy that will stand the test of time.
Muhammad made a huge mark on the Panthers’ organization. This ensures he will hold the number 2 spot in Carolina’s receiving yards rankings for years to come. Although a certain player by the name of D.J. Moore has that target in his sights with a few more highly productive campaigns to come.
