6 defensive players on the roster bubble ahead of Panthers 2021 camp

As stated previously, there is a chance for any safety on the roster to solidify a backup role behind Jeremy Chinn and Juston Burris. The Carolina Panthers also have the option of bringing in another veteran presence if they don’t like what’s transpiring at training camp.
One signing that went relatively under the radar this offseason was that of Sean Chandler. The former Temple star spent the first three seasons of his professional career with the New York Giants – appearing in 32 games – but he was used as a fringe rotational piece and wasn’t brought back this offseason.
Chandler didn’t work with Matt Rhule in college. But there is no doubt the head coach got on the phone with his previous employers to get a stronger indication of what the fourth-year-pro might bring to the Panthers moving forward.
Only time will tell as to whether Chandler can push on and become part of Carolina’s plans. He does have more experience than most fighting for the same positions. But he’ll need to pick things up quickly to avoid any unnecessary complications.
Should Chandler do enough to make the roster, he’ll be getting $920,000 in base salary as a reward. Not a great deal in NFL terms, obviously. But more than enough to provide extra motivation.
