What exactly do the Carolina Panthers have at the defensive end position heading into a 2021 season that comes with some nervous anticipation?
Generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks was something of a problem for the Carolina Panthers in 2020. Things did get better as the campaign went on, but not having a consistent presence in this particular area of the field was another factor behind their eventual 5-11 record for a second straight year.
Thankfully, this was addressed by the Panthers this offseason. Meaning their defensive front could become a positional group of real strength if everything goes right from the outset.
Phil Snow’s defense could be set for great things in 2021. They are young, hungry, and determined to succeed. Traits that will serve them and the organization well next season and possibly beyond.
Getting more out of Carolina’s defensive ends is of critical importance. Having better coverage in the secondary should also assist, so it would be a jaw-dropping surprise if things regressed given the talent now at the Panthers’ disposal.
