5 most underrated Carolina Panthers players heading into 2021
By Dean Jones
David Moore – Carolina Panthers WR
Losing Curtis Samuel in free agency was something everyone associated with the Carolina Panthers came to terms with way before it was confirmed.
With spare financial resources at a premium, the team rightfully prioritized keeping stud right tackle Taylor Moton on the franchise tag and allowed the former Ohio State star to sign for the Washington Football Team.
Knowing Samuel was departing ahead of time allowed the Panthers to make a contingency plan. David Moore was snapped up quickly at a bargain price in free agency – a deal that he could outplay extremely quickly with a smooth transition.
Moore is familiar with general manager Scott Fitterer from their time together with the Seattle Seahawks. His reliability in crucial situations is something that really came across and the former seventh-round pick looks more than capable of carving out a big role for himself in Carolina.
The wideout will need to beat out the likes of Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith for targets at training camp. If Moore can do this, then some solid production might not be too far behind.
This could be a shrewd bit of business by the Panthers when it’s all said and done. Moore has a fantastic opportunity awaiting him in 2021 and his influence might offset the loss of Samuel right from the outset.
