Ranking the 5 most intimidating Carolina Panthers players in 2021
By Dean Jones
Deonte Brown – Carolina Panthers OG
One would be hard-pressed to find a more intimidating physical specimen league-wide than Deonte Brown. The mammoth interior offensive lineman is a brute force at the position and providing his transition to the next level is a smooth one, the Carolina Panthers might just have the steal of the 2021 NFL Draft on their hands.
There are some weight issues where Brown is concerned, which undoubtedly caused him to slide after he was initially given a second-to-third round grade by most analysts. This will be monitored closely by the Panthers in the coming months, especially as players get a lot more freedom away from the team facility they’re afforded in college.
Brown’s size was matched by elite production at Alabama. He didn’t give up a single sack and was hugely impressive in 2020 as the Crimson Tide clinched yet another national championship under Nick Saban.
Asking Brown to come in and start right away might be pushing things. However, there is nothing to suggest that the rookie cannot come in at some stage during the campaign and make his presence felt.
One thing is for sure, should Brown’s production match his level of intimidation, Carolina has solved one problem area on their offensive line and it cost them nothing more than a sixth-round selection.
