Don’t let the calm demeanor and lovable smile fool you. Derrick Brown is a stone-cold killer on the field.
The defensive tackle is looking to become a dominant force in 2021 after really catching the eye for the Carolina Panthers last season. Brown commanded instant respect of opposing protection schemes despite his lack of experience, with the former Auburn stud among the NFL’s most double-teamed players at the position as a rookie.
This did not stop Brown from putting up some quality numbers. He is a physically imposing individual and that split second when he puts the smile away and turns into something completely different has to be pretty unnerving for anybody coming up against him.
And once his power becomes know to those opposite him on the line of scrimmage, Brown has already won half the battle.
Providing the player improves his run defense in 2021 and beyond, the Panthers can count on Brown being their anchor on a talented defensive front for the next decade. They made the correct call taking him at No. 7 overall last year and a Pro Bowl-caliber campaign is not out of the question if the necessary adjustments are made this offseason.
