5 Carolina Panthers who could lose depth chart position at training camp

Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Bravvion Roy has proven to be a reliable defensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers and performed far better than anyone expected.
When Kawann Short got injured early in the season last year, Roy had to step up as a rookie and fill in alongside fellow rookie Derrick Brown to anchor the Panthers defensive front.
With Short being released this offseason, Carolina opted to replace him with a few defensive tackles instead of one big free agent. The most notable being former Tennessee Titan DaQuan Jones.
Currently, Roy is still projected to be the starting defensive tackle according to ESPN just because of his familiarity with the Panthers’ defense. But that can quickly change depending on how he performs at training camp in comparison to Jones.
Jones has proven to be a consistent player in the league and is known for his run-stopping ability. Even if the proven veteran takes the starting spot alongside Brown, Roy could move down the depth chart even further if he has a bad camp performance.
The Panthers also brought in Caraun Reid, Mike Panasiuk, Daviyon Nixon, and Phil Hoskins in free agency and the draft, who will give Roy some competition.
