Daviyon Nixon – Carolina Panthers DT

The Carolina Panthers brought in a ton of defensive line talent this offseason. Daviyon Nixon is a name that as a fan you will need to get familiar with.

Nixon was drafted No. 158 overall out of Iowa. His senior year he collected 5.5 sacks with 13.5 tackles and a remarkable pick-six against Penn State. Some viewed him as a Day 2 pick, but fortunately for the Panthers, he slid down to them in the fifth round.

Nixon has a great burst out of his stance with violent hands. He also possesses eye-catching length and athleticism to add to this defensive line.

Another thing that will help Nixon in training camp is learning from his teammates.

With Derrick Brown going into Year 2 with Pro Bowl potential and free-agent signings such as DaQuan Jones and Morgan Fox to lean on, Nixon should pick up on a ton of new moves to up his arsenal.

Nixon has the ability to be a star in training camp and have people double-take his play. Making the roster is a lock for the rookie, but how he performs during teams drills and on the field in preseason contests will ultimately determine just what sort of role he’ll have in Year 1 of his professional career.
