Jordan Hicks – LB

  • Current team – Arizona Cardinals

It does seem strange from the outside looking in that Jordan Hicks is surplus to requirements with the Arizona Cardinals. The presence of Zaven Collins and Isaiah Simmons has the veteran facing an uncertain future, with the organization reportedly putting him on the trade block earlier this offseason.

Nothing has materialized as yet. So it might be a case of Arizona cutting ties with the linebacker entirely when it’s time to decide on their roster.

Hicks has been hugely productive and, more importantly, had remained healthy for a consistent period of time. His physicality is something that really stands out and the Carolina Panthers might take a close look in the player’s direction should the Cardinals put him on the waiver wire.

The Panthers signed Denzel Perryman from the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency, who is expected to be a significant upgrade on the interior alongside Shaq Thompson and Jermaine Carter.

However, there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of depth behind the starting trio. Bringing Hicks on board could change all that in an instant.

Much will depend on whether another team makes a trade offer for Hicks if injury strikes during camp. But this would be a solid short-term signing for Carolina and something that would strengthen their current options.
