5 shocking trades the Panthers should consider before 2021 season
By Dean Jones
Which shocking trades could the Carolina Panthers potentially make before the 2021 season gets underway?
The Carolina Panthers look poised for some real progress in 2021 if everything clicks into place right away. But there are still some areas that need improving if the team wants to be considered among the leading postseason contenders sooner rather than later.
General manager Scott Fitterer is clearly trying to build an identity within the Panthers. The new appointment has hit the ground running with head coach Matt Rhule this offseason, leaving their roster looking much more balanced after relying on youth perhaps too much in 2020.
Fitterer claimed he was going to be “in on every deal” upon arriving from the Seattle Seahawks. Something that’s been evident judging by the moves made in recent months.
If another opportunity came along that was too good to pass up, Carolina would undoubtedly consider it if those in power felt it could benefit the franchise.
Potential camp cuts could be brought in just before Week 1. There is also the option to go a little bolder with a trade for someone who appears disgruntled with their current organization or a veteran looking for a fresh start in a different environment.
The Panthers do have some salary-cap space to make this happen should they choose. However, it’s important they do not jeopardize a strong start to their rebuild.
With this in mind, we took a look at five shocking trades the Panthers should consider before competitive action gets underway.
