Drew Lock – Potential Sam Darnold replacement

If the Carolina Panthers want someone a little younger with more upside to come in if Sam Darnold is headed for a lengthy absence, then they could take a stab at acquiring Drew Lock from the Denver Broncos.

The quarterback came into 2020 with some lofty expectations, which he failed to capitalize on. This forced the Broncos to acquire Teddy Bridgewater from the Carolina Panthers for a sixth-round pick just before the draft, so it remains to be seen just who is going to come out of this training camp battle on top.

Denver is also reportedly monitoring the Aaron Rodgers situation closely and will make a big move should the Green Bay Packers finally admit defeat in their hopes of keeping the reigning NFL MVP around.

Lock is not a lost cause just yet.  But there is much work to be done after a campaign littered with inconsistencies.

He’s arguably in a similar situation to Darnold. Perhaps in need of a fresh start somewhere else and the opportunity to get back down to basics in the process.
