Sam Tecklenburg – Carolina Panthers OL

Another with previous experience of being around the Carolina Panthers is Sam Tecklenburg. The versatile offensive lineman went undrafted before being snapped up by his former college coach Matt Rhule following a successful time together at Baylor.

Tecklenburg was on the practice squad throughout the season without ever doing enough to earn some meaningful reps on the active roster. What adjustments the player makes this offseason will go a long way to determining his aspirations in Carolina and the organization brought in some extra competition for places to make his task even more difficult at training camp.

The likes of Pat Elflein, Deonte Brown, and David Moore will all look to carve out their own roles before Week 1, so Tecklenburg has a big challenge ahead of him at camp.

Carolina’s coaching staff knows what they have in Tecklenburg by now. Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen.

This is always a time of year where the injury bug strikes. If the Panthers also succumb to this, then Tecklenburg might be one of the cut candidates to make way for someone else who can solve depth or perhaps even improve the team’s chances right out of the gate.

It’s a fine line and something that players like Tecklenburg are all-too-aware of. But focusing on what he can control is all the lineman can do at camp.
