What are some worst-case scenarios for the Carolina Panthers during a crucial few weeks at training camp in 2021?

Business is about to pick up as the Carolina Panthers get set for a return to practice at training camp on Wednesday. Matt Rhule’s men descend on Wofford College in Spartanburg once again after a year away due to COVID-19 restrictions, with humid temperatures and intense competition guaranteed right from the outset.

The Panthers head into camp with a real sense of optimism. There is plenty to suggest that this time is right on the cusp of great things, even though there are a couple of key positional groups that need to alleviate some big concerns for progress to be guaranteed in 2021.

It’s a precarious situation. There’s no getting away from it.

What we see from Carolina’s current options in the coming weeks and in three preseason games could shape the season. Bringing in some additional reinforcements during camp or when final cuts are made before the regular season cannot be ruled out when one considers the Panthers now have $24 million in salary-cap space remaining.

If everything clicks into place, it’s hard to envisage a scenario where Carolina finishes with five wins once again. There is also the extra game to consider next time around that might also work in their favor.

However, there is a flip side to this coin.
