Cam Erving – Carolina Panthers OT

There isn’t a positional group that is more concerning where the Carolina Panthers are concerned than the offensive line. Not exactly unfamiliar territory for fans who’ve grown accustomed to some inept protection over the last few seasons.

The Panthers brought in some promising rookies via the draft, but whether they’ll be able to make an immediate impression is another matter entirely. Outside of this, those in power settled for veterans who have struggled to deliver more often than not.

A big gamble considering what’s at stake for quarterback Sam Darnold in 2021.

It appears as if Cam Erving will get the first shot at winning the starting left tackle job. A prospect that is filling many with complete dread.

Erving has failed to meet the expectations normally associated with a first-round pick. Even if he does have a Super Bowl ring from his time on the Kansas City Chiefs.

His one season with the Dallas Cowboys last season didn’t earn Erving an extended stay. So it was a shock to see the Panthers place their faith in the player early in free agency.

The former Florida State standout will be under heavy scrutiny at camp. Erving will get all he can handle from the likes of Brian Burns and Haason Reddick during team drills, with his production in preseason games also of real importance.
