Christian McCaffrey was on pace for big numbers in 2020

It was only three games, but Christian McCaffrey was on course for yet another exceptional campaign for the Carolina Panthers in 2020. There is no doubt their 5-11 record would have looked far different had he been fit throughout, especially since Matt Rhule’s men were far more competitive than anybody expected.

Perhaps expecting McCaffrey to not miss any game time for a fourth straight season was a step too far. Running back is a position of glamor that also comes with a substantial amount of punishment and this bears more significance when one considers how much the Stanford product touches the football.

Just how big would McCaffrey’s numbers have been with a full campaign?

Although it’s hard to tell, here are his projections based on production.

  • 1,200 rushing yards
  • 26 rushing TDs
  • 91 receptions
  • 795 receiving yards
  • 6 receiving TDs
  • 1,995 all-purpose yards

Not bad.

Not bad at all.

Had McCaffrey managed to attain this sort of production, a second All-Pro selection and even a potential shot at winning NFL MVP would have been a big possibility.

Just another reason why he’s the best in the business right now.
