5 free-agent LBs for the Panthers to consider after Shaq Thompson scare
By Dean Jones
K.J. Wright
- 2020 team – Seattle Seahawks
There does appear some mutual interest between K.J. Wright and an instant reunion with the Seattle Seahawks, although nothing has come to fruition as yet. This might see someone else swoop to acquire his services and a previous working relationship with Scott Fitterer could see the Carolina Panthers explore this avenue in the not-too-distant future.
Wright has been a standout performer during his time in the league. There are few remaining free agents still on the market that boast his credentials, so it would be a fantastic acquisition for the Panthers and one that could improve their young defense even further in 2021.
He is a Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl winner, and Wright was also a leading figure within Seattle’s notorious Legion of Boom that formed a key component behind them lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Much will depend on how much Wright is after from a contract standpoint. Carolina has the readies to afford such a player, but just where he’d fit from a starting perspective is another matter.
The benefits of picking up Wright are there for all to see. But the veteran might want to land somewhere with a more realistic chance of contending for a championship at this stage of his career.
