Trenton Cannon – Carolina Panthers RB/WR

Making the team is objective No. 1 for Trenton Cannon.

But the Carolina Panthers might have something up their sleeve regarding the player judging by the early part of training camp.

According to multiple reports from media sources on the scene, the Panthers are giving Cannon a ton of work in the passing game, which is something of a surprise considering he’s listed as a running back.

As we all know, versatility is something head coach Matt Rhule clearly loves in his players. So if Cannon can impress in multiple ways this offseason, then he might just find a role in Joe Brady’s offense after being used sparingly in 2020.

Despite this newfound interest in Cannon becoming another weapon, the task awaiting him in the coming weeks is a steep one. He wasn’t given much in the way of carries last season even when Mike Davis was missing from the lineup, so his chances appeared bleak before this interesting development came to the fore.

Realistically speaking, it could go either way for Cannon at this juncture. But if he makes the team, expect him to force his way further into the team’s plans.
