Keith Kirkwood – Carolina Panthers WR

Keith Kirkwood has had some nice moments during training camp so far. But there is some significant buzz surrounding other wide receivers that could see him on the outside looking in heading into padded practices.

The likes of Terrace Marshall Jr., Shi Smith, Ishmael Hyman, and Omar Bayless have stood out more, according to multiple reports from those in attendance. Backup running back Trenton Cannon has also been seeing plenty of action in the passing game that could indicate a spot on the 53-man roster.

Kirkwood was luckless during his first season with the Panthers in 2020.

It was thought his previous relationship with Joe Brady from their time working together on the New Orleans Saints would serve him well, but injuries restricted the player to just one game and two targets last season.

Not exactly what the player of the team had in mind.

Carolina rightfully gave Kirkwood another chance to prove himself. Although the competition for places has also increased thanks to a busy offseason period of recruitment.

The former undrafted player out of Temple has some real pressure on his shoulders in pursuit of carving out some sort of role for himself. Realistically speaking, this might be easier said than done if the first few days of practice are any indication.
