Just how good is Sam Darnold?

The Carolina Panthers are betting on Sam Darnold‘s talent rather than his previous production. His time at MetLife Stadium was absolutely horrific and although the USC product wasn’t entirely without blame, this is a far better environment for the player with a coaching staff that believes in his ability.

Darnold has made a solid start to training camp. The arm strength is there for all to see and his focus on improving footwork is something else that should reap rewards when it’s time to get down to business in the regular season.

Just how well the protection in front of Darnold will keep him upright is anybody’s guess.

Outside of Taylor Moton, there are some serious questions to answer. Although the weapons in the passing game are plentiful, it’ll count for nothing if the signal-caller cannot get enough time to go through his reads.

The Panthers thought enough of Darnold to pick up his fifth-year option. But if things don’t progress as anticipated once again, they might be on the lookout for their third starting player at the position in as many seasons.

Not exactly the most stable way to build a winning franchise. However, if Darnold makes the most out of what appears to be a fantastic opportunity, the sky is the limit for this offense.
