Which defensive players should the Carolina Panthers add to their wish list in 2022 free agency?

If the Carolina Panthers don’t make some real strides on defense in 2021, it will be seen as a disappointment. Phil Snow’s unit has the scope to be among the league’s most dominant forces if everything clicks into place, with some impressive additions this offseason only adding to the wealth of dynamic young talent at the team’s disposal.

The early part of Panthers training camp has seen the defense reign supreme more often than not. This has only heightened expectations about what the unit can achieve when competitive action begins, which is always the catalyst behind every great contending team.

There were some frustrating elements that emerged from a defensive standpoint last season. Even though things noticeably picked up over the second half of the campaign.

Should the Panthers make the necessary improvements, then it’s going to take their level up a notch and might even lead to the organization becoming a more attractive free-agent destination next spring.

Carolina Panthers could have plenty of cash to spend in 2022.

According to Over the Cap, Carolina is set to have $23.93 million in salary-cap space in 2022. This is obviously before the necessary sacrifices are made to free up additional funds.

Much will depend on what areas of the offense need to be strengthened. But here are five free agents on defense that the Panthers should add to their wish list.
