Which free-agent safeties could the Carolina Panthers potentially take a look at as they look to replace J.T, Ibe at training camp?

The Carolina Panthers didn’t waste any time in waiving J.T. Ibe following his controversial hit on wide receiver Keith Kirkwood at training camp on Tuesday. This resulted in a trip to the hospital for the wideout, who is thankfully now back with the team and has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Matt Rhule has no room for ill discipline. And he voiced his displeasure at Ibe’s approach to the play once practice came to a conclusion.

In fairness to the player, he did release a statement apologizing to Kirkwood and stated he didn’t set out with the intention of hurting his teammate. Even though Ibe added it was a grave error of judgment that’s cost him a chance of making the 53-man roster.

Carolina Panthers have some depth concerns at safety in 2021.

Carolina moved quickly to fill Ibe’s spot on the roster by scooping up linebacker Nate Hall off waivers. But this does not solve the potential problem regarding depth at the safety spot behind projected starting duo Jeremy Chinn and Juston Burris.

This could be something the Panthers address in the coming days. General manager Scott Fitterer said he is constantly looking at ways of improving the roster, so there might be plenty of transactions to come before final decisions are made.

With this in mind, here are four free-agent safeties that Carolina could take a look at if they chose to go in this particular direction.
