Improvements from the Carolina Panthers OL

It wasn’t a coincidence that Sam Darnold’s better production came in unison with an improved practice for the offensive line.

They had their moments of inconsistency – most noticeably when Brian Burns carved them open on several occasions during the two-minute drill at the end of the session. But it was hard not to like most of their efforts on Wednesday.

The Carolina Panthers are still using their veteran pieces in the starting lineup. Their run blocking left its mark and brought a couple of nice highlights from Christian McCaffrey and Chuba Hubbard. But they also dominated the early 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 in pass protection more often than not.

There is still a long way to go for this group. But one must credit them when they do well as much as people like to get on their case after a bad day.

Generating confidence and chemistry is the biggest objective. Going up against Carolina’s formidable defensive front is a stern test – but something that should serve them well against less fierce units during the regular season.

This was better from the offensive line. More of the same going forward is needed and will do the Panthers an untold amount of good if they can perform above expectations when it counts.
