Deshaun Watson’s current situation is being monitored closely by the Carolina Panthers, according to a recent report.

The predicament Deshaun Watson finds himself in is a precarious one. His current trade demands are now being accommodated by the Houston Texans, who are willing to let their star quarterback leave the organization providing they get some substantial compensation in return.

If only it was that easy.

Watson has some serious legal issues to tackle first – 22 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal cases to be exact – before another team even thinks about giving up multiple draft selections and some players to bring him on board.

That’s not forgetting a potential league suspension thrown in for good measure.

It’s well known how interested the Carolina Panthers were in acquiring Watson before these matters came to light. Those in power were intent on finding an upgrade at the quarterback position, which eventually saw them settle for Sam Darnold from the New York Jets.

Darnold has done well so far during the early stages of training camp. But there is a long way to go before the Panthers become truly convinced he is the man to lead them moving forward.

And according to one respected NFL analyst, the Panthers might not be out of the Watson sweepstakes just yet.
