What were the big things to take from Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold’s performance during the second week of training camp?

We now have a good sample size of what Sam Darnold could potentially bring to the Carolina Panthers in 2021. The quarterback has participated in nine practice sessions over the first two weeks of camp, which is another big step in the right direction as he looks to make a better go of things with more talent at his disposal.

Acquiring Darnold from the New York Jets before the 2021 NFL Draft was seen as a gamble by most. However, the Panthers clearly liked the signal-caller coming out of USC and feel this is the right situation for the player to turn his stuttering career around.

It’s been a whirlwind of sorts for Darnold, who was clearly disappointed that the Jets cut their losses at the first real chance they got.

And in truth, those within the organization never truly believed in him.

Darnold now has an opportunity for a new lease of life within a system that seems tailor-made for the player, providing the offensive line gives the former first-round pick enough time in the pocket.

With this in mind, here are five major observations regarding Darnold from Week 2 of Panthers training camp ahead of the 2021 season.
