What were the big observations from practice Day 10 at Carolina Panthers training camp with one week to go until their first preseason game?

The Carolina Panthers got a well-deserved day off following a hugely successful Fan Fest on Friday night. This was the first time most of the roster has experienced an atmosphere inside Bank of America Stadium after COVID-19 prevented packed crowds in 2020, so it was clearly something everyone involved with the event embraced fully.

This is a big week upcoming for the Panthers. They have two days of sessions on Monday and Tuesday before traveling for scrimmages and a preseason game at the Indianapolis Colts.

Matt Rhule will find out plenty about his players in the coming days. Impressing against your own teammates is one thing, doing the same against real opposition who won’t be taking a step back is far more telling.

With this in mind, here are five big observations from practice Day 10 at Panthers training camp.

Carolina Panthers OLB Shaq Thompson returns

The knocks are injuries are slowly building up for the Panthers. But there was some relief when Shaq Thompson made a full return to practice after missing most of the week.

This was a welcome boost for players and coaches alike. Thompson is one of the more senior figures within the organization following another busy offseason of player movement and will be counted on heavily throughout the campaign.

Carolina has a big decision to make regarding Thompson’s future next spring. How the former first-round pick performs will dictate just which way they’ll go.
