5 Carolina Panthers players dominating at 2021 training camp
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players are staking a strong claim during the first portion of training camp ahead of the 2021 season?
The Carolina Panthers are getting ready for an important week that sees them travel to Indianapolis for scrimmages against the Colts before taking them on in their first preseason game of the offseason.
This is going to tell Matt Rhule and his staff far more about the players at their disposal than anything they’ve witnessed so far. Meaning the stakes are incredibly high for all involved on the Panthers in pursuit of winning their respective position battles.
Some players have already made their presence felt at training camp. Carolina is going to need their big-time roster members to stand up and be counted when the real action begins, which will stand their chances of progression in good stead next season.
With this in mind, here are five Panthers players who’ve been dominant during the first fortnight of camp.
Player No. 1
Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT
Although others might be getting the limelight, Derrick Brown has quietly gone about his business and has shown plenty to suggest a big season could be in the offing next season. The defensive tackle made some notable strides as a rookie and his partnership with free-agent signing DaQuan Jones already looks like it’s going to be prolific.
Brown has generated some significant push during drills and 11-on-11 scrimmages. The Auburn product appears to be the complete package if he can adjust his run-stopping in the coming months, which he looks more than capable of.
He is a quiet assassin. And the Panthers are extremely fortunate to have Brown.
