There have been some rookie mistakes, which is par for the course. But the traits Jaycee Horn has displayed during training camp have been really pleasing.

The No. 8 overall selection has the weight of the world on his shoulders with the Carolina Panthers in 2021. Nothing new for a player that’s been under the spotlight as a high school and college star thanks to his father being none other than former Pro Bowl wideout Joe Horn.

Carolina has thrown plenty of responsibilities in Horn’s direction throughout drills, putting him against the likes of Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore prominently. Something that is going to do wonders ahead of his first campaign in a professional environment.

Horn has been growing in confidence. There is a swagger about the way he conducts himself and the seatbelt celebration has come out plenty of times thanks to his impressive coverage in certain situations.

A work in progress is how Horn should be treated, But the Panthers are going to benefit enormously from this selection for the foreseeable future if the South Carolina product reaches expectations.

The Panthers couldn’t have asked any more from Horn initially. How the cornerback performs in preseason games will tell us plenty about what we can expect from the player in 2021.
