Keith Taylor Jr. – Carolina Panthers CB

Getting production from Day 3 cornerbacks is always something of a crapshoot. The Carolina Panthers won’t put too much on Keith Taylor Jr.’s shoulders initially, but he might be ready for meaningful reps judging by his initial transition to training camp.

The fifth-round pick was seen as a work in progress with the potential to become a valuable contributor down the line. Taylor’s game needs some refinement from a technical standpoint, but his skill set and physical attributes indicate these can be worked out over time.

This is yet another player that’s going to benefit tremendously from preseason games.

Getting as many snaps into Taylor as possible is only going to help and if he impresses, the Washington product could get some action over the first couple of weeks while A.J. Bouye serves out a two-game suspension.

It’s still early days. One cannot forget just how likely it is for Taylor to suffer complications as a rookie judging by the previous history of players at the position.

That being said, Taylor has been one of the pleasant surprises of camp so far and the Panthers could have another steal on their hands when it’s all said and done.
