5 big observations from practice Day 12 at Panthers training camp

More reps for Taylor Moton at LT
Cam Erving seems to be getting closer to a return after missing a few practices due to injury. He was spotted in a green jersey during Tuesday’s session, which meant more reps for Taylor Moton over on the blindside.
This is something the Carolina Panthers are clearly contemplating despite Moton’s exceptional level of production on the right. The left tackle position is seen as the most important on the offensive line and if the former second-round pick’s performance isn’t jeopardized by such a move, then it might be the smart way to go in 2021.
Let’s be clear, Sam Darnold won’t be doing much of anything if he’s running for his life in a similar fashion to what the quarterback experienced in New York. Keeping him upright long enough to make the necessary throws is of pivotal importance and if that means Moton switching sides, then so be it.
Erving will probably slot back there when healthy. But it’s hard to look at his time in the league so far with any confidence things could improve in Carolina.
Moton recently signed a megabucks deal to keep him around, which was well-deserved after a three-year spell of supreme consistency. It’s a nice option to have at the very least, but what comes during the preseason will be fully evaluated before formal conclusions come about.
