Omar Bayless – Carolina Panthers WR

  • RWR4 on Panthers unofficial depth chart

It’s been another hugely impressive training camp for Omar Bayless. There’s absolutely no getting away from that.

But his status with the Carolina Panthers is still hanging by a threat following the publication of their first unofficial depth chart.

Bayless has worked his way back from a serious knee injury that denied him a roster spot in 2020 impressively. He’s created separation almost at will during drills and produced plenty of memorable highlights that only enhance the Arkansas State product’s stock ahead of the preseason games.

This probably has more to do with Bayless’ lack of experience and the level of quality Carolina has at wide receiver. He was listed as the fourth right-side wideout behind Robby Anderson, David Moore, and Keith Kirkwood, who has been out of action for some time following a hit from J.T. Ibe that put him in hospital for a brief period.

The wideout shouldn’t read too much into this.

Bayless has the chance to stake a real claim on the field when it matters in warmup games, which is the perfect time for the Panthers to give him plenty of targets and see exactly what the undrafted free agent can do under pressure.

If Bayless can do this, he is still in with a realistic shot of making the team.
