Jaycee Horn vs. T.Y. Hilton

The impression left by Jaycee Horn at Carolina Panthers training camp so far has been notable. The No. 8 overall selection arrives into the NFL with some lofty expectations and a big reputation following a standout college career at South Carolina, so how he fares in the preseason will be worth keeping a close eye on.

Horn has looked the part coming up against Carolina’s talented wide receiving core in drills. He’ll get his first taste of going up against NFL opposition other than his teammates against the Indianapolis Colts, which should see the corner square up to T.Y. Hilton early and often during scrimmages.

Hilton remains the best and most experienced wideout on the Colts. He might not have Carson Wentz getting him the football right now, but backup Jacob Eason has a rocket for an arm and could cause Horn some problems if he doesn’t remain fully focused on the task at hand.

That shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Horn appears locked in to making a difference right from the outset and being the son of a former Pro Bowl wide receiver means he won’t be going in blind like most college players entering the pro ranks.

This will be a fascinating battle to watch and it would be a surprise if there weren’t fireworks when one considers how competitive both Horn and Hilton are.
